Under 7’s
Yet again the 7’s were let down for the 3rd week in a row, this time by Redhill Rangers who unfortunatley have pulled their team from the competition altogether, frustrating for the boys, coaches and the parents. Hopefully the return match will be rearranged against another club as a friendly.

Unbelievable to think that we are half way through the season at this age group already. Fortunate for this game to be on with alot of matches cancelled again due to waterlogged pitches the Swans were hoping for a good result away to Christchurch, the game earlier in the season having been a great fought contest ending in a draw. The game started evenly with Jamie up front, Corey, Jack and Jaya in midfield, Joseph and Ryan in defence and Dexter in goal. Christchurch pushed forward giving our defence some early pressure twice going close but good defending and a good save by Dexter thwarted their advance.

The Swans pushed forward with Jamie and Jack testing the Christchurch defence but to no avail. Again Christchurch attacked the Swans end and Dexter making another good save. Corey on a solo run got brought down from a late tackle and eyed up the free kick, great kick but just over the bar. Then just before half time the Swans got caught ball watching and christchurch went in at half time 1 nil up. Second half Rhys came on for Joseph and Jordan came on for his brother Jaya. The Swans pushed forward nearly getting a goal but Corey’s shot was deflected wide, Christchurch hit back just putting the bal wide. Jack made a good run down the wing but Jamie couldn’t quite get on the end of his cross. The Swans agian got caught out at the back and conceeded a weak goal. The Swans seemed to have gone asleep failing to close down their players and apart from some desperate defending were lucky not to conceed another goal.

Then 5 minutes of madness and two poor kick offs saw the Swans Conceed another two goals. Joseph and Jaya back on now and the Swans tried to sure up their defence with some good defending by Ryan but again Christchurch managed to penetrate it and Score a 5th. The Swans tried to retaliate and came close at the end from a corner but the ball just wouldn’t go in the net.

This was the Swans heaviest defeat of the season so far, the 1st half evenly matched but the 2nd half the worst the Swans had ever played, the coaches insisting that all the boys turn up for training next Saturday to understand and work on what had gone wrong this week.

On a very wet day, the pitch was quite muddy but not too slippery for our boys to go out and take 3 more points today.
Weymouth have a very small pitch and from the kick off tried to take advantage of this by launching the ball at our goal several times, only to be thwarted by Josh in goal and his new defensive team of Jamie & Robert.

Once the coaches had changed tactics the Swans started to dominate the game, with our first goal coming from Mitch, chipping it over the keeper after he had saved his first shot but left the ball loose.
With some excellent heading from Ollie and lots of running from Adam & Kieren, the Swans kept winning the ball and attacking their goal. Half time 1-0

The start of second half was delayed by Weymouth coach reading the riot act to his team in the changing rooms. Eventually they reappeared and Swans carried on as they played in the first half. With play pushing forward, occasionally our defenders got caught out, but Josh was excellent at coming out of goal to win the ball.
Mitch and Ollie kept attacking their goal, with Adam and Sonny supporting on the wings, but tried not to get in each others way.

Kieren on for Adam and Bradley on for Mitch, Bradley ran straight on goal and scored his first goal for the Swans. Josh Peaty on for Sonny, played some good passes down the right wing. Five minutes after our second goal, birthday boy Kieren scored another classic goal, looping it into the net. Last ten minutes of the game, our boys were putting constant pressure on Weymouth, queueing up to score. A superb corner by Mitch, Sonny chipped it onto the crossbar. Moments later, Ollie put Robert through who back heeled it and just missed scoring our fourth. A brilliant team effort final score 3-O (Mitch, Bradley, Kieren) MoM was given to Kieren for a cracking goal on his birthday and to Sonny for not ‘throwing a strop’.
