Great news for the club, Corey Jordan from our Under 8’s team was approached last year to train with the AFC Bournemouth School of Excellence after being spotted at local tournaments by Matty Holmes. Corey has been training with some of the best Under 8’s in the local area twice a week by AFC Bournemouth Coaches Mark Ormerod and Martin Dighton. AFC Bournemouth have just reduced their School of Excellence Under 8’s squad from 22 players to 14 with Corey being one of the lucky boys to keep his place, a great achievment.
Saturday 13th January - AFC Bournemouth Under 8’s were due to take on Eastleigh Under 8’s but unfortunatley Eastleigh pulled out, Bournemouth were able to get a match against Kingswood Under 9’s, a test for the young Cherries players.
Corey played in this thrilling game for the Cherries which saw them beat Kingswood 7 - 6 an exciting end to end game, Corey played not his favorite position, in defence but gave a good solid performance.
The Club would like to wish Corey all the best with his future development at the Bournemouth School of Excellence, and what great recognition for the club to have one of our players getting into the Bournrmouth set up, hopefully with more of our youngsters following in Corey’s footsteps.
Corey will continue to play for his team for the rest of the season whilst being coached by Bournemouth, Bournemouth will then make a final assesment in April on the boys before deciding which of them to progress into the Under 9’s for next season, good luck Corey.
