Last Sunday saw the return to action for striker Danny Rickman and the visit from Poole Town to Somerford School. The visiting teams kit brought many comments from both Callum and Drew who are both Arsenal fans, Poole Town were in theĀ Arsenal home kit!!
The game started brightly for the away side as they put the Young Swans under severe pressure, the change in formation did not help the Young Guns. The visitors were awarded for some good play by scoring the first goal of the match when Michael could only parry a shot straight to a Poole forward who knocked the ball over the line for 1-0 Poole.
The home side reverting back to a 3 man defence but were still struggling to cope with the Poole attacks. Too many of the Young Guns were switched off and Poole threatened to overrun the boys. Suddenly Bradley and Callum seemed to click into a higher gear and the tackles went flying in and gradually the Swans got a grip of the game. The change of pace from the Swans brought an equiliser when Louie once again struck home for his sixth goal of the season. 1-1 Half-Time
The second half brought about a change in fortune for the Young Guns as they began taking hold of the game, a great through ball by Drew was finished off emphatically by Louie to put the Swans 2-1 in front. The lead was extended when William cracked home a super free-kick 3-1 Swans. William should have scored his second when the Swans were awarded a penalty for hand ball but his well placed shot was brilliantly saved by the visiting keeper.
The game swung from end to end with Poole sensing that a second goal would put them back in the game however the next goal would be the Swans, Callum swung in a corner from the right which was missed by everyone and crept in at the far post. Callum thus becoming the second Swans player this season to score direct from a corner. Final Score Swans 4 Poole Town 1. MOM - Danny Rickman
