Saturday the 19th saw our end of season BBQ and end of season presentations to all the 2006/7 season players at the mudeford scout hut at Stanpit, Mudeford. The day kicked of with the FA Cup Final between Chelsea & Manchester Utd, being screened on a whopping 38inch flat screen tv, kindly lent to the club by Alan Wyeth.

While the lads and some of the girls and parents all settled down to watch the match Sarah and Danielle Morley had set up a table to keep the sisters and younger children busy doing art and crafts also helped by Leanne Smith (who had kindly donated the craft materials) & Claire Mapstone.

At half time it was decided to fire up the BBQ, Richard and Bill managing to charcoal the first batch of sausages ( BBQ was too hot!!! some excuse chaps!!) and with lots of children and parents turning up all hungry it was evident that the two master chefs would not be seeing the rest of the match.

With the match finished and the BBQ in full swing Andy Mapstone and Alan Wyeth got the Penalty shootout under way, Alan yet again looking striking in his buzby outfit playing in goal (Super Fluff!!) With everybody full from the BBQ and worn out from the penalty shootout everybody moved inside to watch the Cygnets perform two great routines, looking splendid in their pink and white outfits with great choreography by Leanne Smith.

Then on to the main event of the day the presentations, the proceedings opened by Jim and Rob the under 7’s coaches with some great witty speeches given about all the boys by Jim as they received their medals. Then it was the turn of the under 8’s, Richard and Alan their coaches also giving a fun speech about all the boys as they received their medals with Alan making a nice speech for Corey Jordan the 8’s captain who is moving on to play for Bournemouth U 9’s having signed his contract this week. Andy and Bill delivered some equally great speeches about their boys as the Under 10’s not only received their medals but also a certificate each in recognition for having played in the Dorest Football League. Darren and Richard then gave medals to the U12’s again with some nice moving speeches about the boys and their achievements last season as they collected their medals. Then Leanne gave each of the Cygnets a special gift as a thank you for all their efforts and enthusiasm over the last year having performed dances at all Swans events, their parties and for singing at the xmas carol service in Saxon square. The cygnets then thanked Leanne for all her hard work giving her some flowers and a special card that had been made by the girls. It was then on to the Parents Player of the Season Awards, all parents having voted over the past weeks, again starting with the 7’s the award went to Bradley Wyatt May, the 8’s went to Jack Wyeth and the 10’s going to Josh Peaty, all these boys receiving the award for their efforts and development over the 2006/7 season, well done boys. It was then time for alll the boys to thank their parents for all their support over the year with all the boys and girls standing to applaud their parents.
Future Swans from the U5’s & U6’sRichard then called all the committee past and present, the team coaches, Claire Mapstone our child welfare officer and Lucy Bentley who minutes all the committee meetings, to the front of the hall and thanked them all for their hard work and time they devote to the club asking all the parents and children to give them a round of applause. After some photo taking, final burgers and sausages to be eaten, the day came to an end everybody, children, parents and grand parents all having enjoyed themselves at yet another fantastic Mudeford Swans YFC event.
