Under 9’s

This was the boys first match in their new yellow and blue strip and  this seems to have inspired them into a super performance.Only having 6 players against 7 for the whole game they ALL gave 100%  effort.
The first half kicked off with the Swans putting Hordle under pressure with Ryan Coyne, Jack Wyeth and Zac Andress going close. Then after a long clearance Hordle crossed the ball only for poor Zac who had run the full length of the field to defend was very unlucky to deflected it past  Tomas Clarke in goal 1 - 0 to Hordle against the run of play.
The Swans again started putting pressure on the Hordle with Nathan Smith all over the pitch putting in good tackles as did Kenny Rickard  in defence not only tackling well but along with Ryan putting the ball  out into safety as they’d been asked to do. Tom was looking solid in  goal making good saves when they did break through.
Then Jack and Nathan passed to each other in our half and Jack went on one of his runs and was just in their half and hit a long shot past  their keeper 1 - 1 a super goal and no more than they deserved for all their effort in the first half.
The second half started as the first had finished with the Swans attacking but as time went on Hordle started to attack us more with  our players getting tired having one player less but they all put in  the extra effort and the play went from end to end. Then with about a minute left a Hordle player hit a shot and it hit poor Nathan’s  arm/chest and the referee gave a controversial penalty. The Hordle  player hit the penalty hard and straight to the goal but Tomas stood
up and got both hands to it and pushed it away then after a scramble  to get the ball away into touch all the boys jumped on Tom to  congratulate him for a fine save.
A few seconds later the final whistle went.
Alan and Mike were so proud and pleased with the way ALL the boys played as were the parents clapping and cheering at the end.
No man of the match was given as they ALL deserved it. _Well done boys_.
