Sunday saw the Swans travel to Kings Park to take on Boscombe Albion. Both teams had enjoyed opening day victories so a hard game was anticipated.
The Swans started strongly quickly pressing their opponents for the opening goal. Callum was making some strong runs and was well supported by both Louie and Drew. The strong play was rewarded when Callum shot home for the opening goal. The early strike settled the boys and they began moving the ball around looking for a second goal.
Play began to swing form end to end but William and Danny – who had another fantastic game – kept the hosts at bay in defence. Danny’s presence in defence allowed William to link up with Bradley in midfield and allowed to Drew to support the front two. Some fine goalkeeping from the Albion keeper prevented further Swans goals. Michael in the Swans goal produced another stunning finger tip save to keep the score at 1-0 at half-time.
The Swans began the second half strongly with Izzy making some strong tackles and passes in midfield. Early Swans pressure was rewarded when they were awarded a penalty which Drew calmly converted for a 2-0 lead. This was closely followed by the goal of the game when Callum beat two defenders to smash home his second to make the score 3-0. Albion began to rally and came more and more into the game, a lapse in concentration allowed them a glimmer of hope when a home striker was allowed in on goal to beat Michael with a low shot for 3-1. The Swans weathered a strong Albion finish. The game was effectively ended when William crashed home the fourth after a scramble in the box for 4-1.MoM was again a close call but was given to William although there were other good performances notably from Danny and Izzy.
A big thank you to the parents for their support during the game and especially to Billy Bob Luckwell for his half time rendition of the Billy Ray Cyrus classic “Achy Braky Heart”
Final Score – Boscombe Albion 1 Swans 4;
Scorers - Callum 2, Drew 1 pen, William 1
