This was the under 9s first home game of the season against Bournemouth Poppies.
The Poppies were on the attack straight from the start and scored in the first 2mins from a very lucky deflection off of Nathan Smith who had done well to try to stop the attack. Then almost immediatly they scored again putting the Swans 0-2 behind.
This seemed to then wake up our boys who then started to play some good football with Charlie McKenzie and Nathan tackling in defence with Tom Clarke solid in goal and drop kicking the ball better than ever Zac Andress, Ryan Hall and Jack Wyeth all working hard in mid-field looking to get the ball to Kenny Rickard up front.
Jack went on one of his mazy runs and slipped the ball past the keeper 1-2
Then after some good work by Zac getting the ball to Jack who then put a through ball to Kenny for him to smash it past the Poppies keeper 2-2.
The game was end to end with the Poppies scoring next a scrappy goal that should have been cleared 2-3
Yan Brown came on as a substitute for Charlie in defence and was diving into tackles. As the Swans pushed forward again Jack went on a run with the ball and was fouled. He got up to take the free-kick from outside the box and sent it flying into the net to put us level 3-3 at half time.
The second half was hard fought and both teams going close Tom made some good saves, Ryan making a goal saving tackle in the box, Charlie also came back on battled well with Zac working his socks off in all over the pitch, then the Poppies broke forward and dispite some brave keeping from Tom they scored again to make it 3-4.
The Swans tried everything Kenny running for every ball and unlucky not to win a penalty for a push in his back, and late on Nathan went on a run passing a number of defenders into the box his shot just going wide.
The final whistle went and dispite all the boys efforts losing 3-4 a result that didn’t really reflect the game.
Man of the match was Yan Brown who’s tackling was tremendous and an example to others.

Of my young 44 years on this earth i have never enjoyed a game more,
