Sunday saw the Swans play there first ever home game at Mudeford Wood. Burton were the visitors. The U8s were in good spirits after winning their opening two games. Izzy was given his first start in midfield. The game began in windy conditions and the Swans quickly got into their stride. Good play from Drew and Callum on flanks saw the Swans create the first chances of the match but Burton held firm. Burton were beginning to grow in confidence and began to mount attacks of their own. Danny once again in defence was having a good start, with William mopping up the loose balls.
Callum opened the scoring when he shot home after a good move for 1-0 Swans. A panic in the Swans defence saw Burton nearly equalise. First Danny, then William and Bradley failing to clear but Michael was on hand to smother the ball. Half Time 1- Swans.
The second half started in much the same way as the first with the Swans pushing for a second goal. Louie came on as sub to partner Callum up front. The Swans forced several early corners but somehow the Burton defence held out. In a rare breakaway Burton forced a fine save from Michael, with Sam making some great tackles to prevent further shots on the Swans goal. Callum then stepped forward and scored a second goal to ease the pressure, with a great through ball from Drew. Callum then completed his hat-trick to finally end the Burton resistance. The Swans should have a fourth when Drew’s shot was spilled and Callum fired the rebound wide. Final Score Swans 3 Burton 0. Match of the match went to Danny who has had a great start to the season in defence.
