u9sOur second home game saw the boys up against an unbeaten “Electric” side and we knew we were going to be up against a tough side. The team line up was in goal Thomas Clarke in defence Yan Brown and Charlie McKenzie mid-field were Jack Wyeth, Zac Andress and Nathan Smith with Kenny Rickard up front and Ryan Hall on the bench.

The Swan got straight into their stride with a good passing move involving a number of players with the shot being deflected just wide. From the resulting corner the ball was hit just off target. Electric then broke forward from a long ball and Tom produced the first of a number of fine saves.

On our next attack the boys gained a corner which was scrambled clear after both Kenny and Nathan fought to get shots in with their defence blocking their efforts. Jack was running well with the ball getting past defenders with ease but his shot was saved by their goal keeper also from one of his passes to Zac the keeper again saved well (Why do all other teams keepers play well against us).

Charlie looked solid in defence clearing the ball well and Yan was tackling with his usual effort which all the boys were showing. Mid way through the first half Ryan H came on in defence and showed good commitment chasing and tackling.

The half time whistle went with the score 0-0 but the Swans deserved to be ahead having played the better football.

The second half started badly with Electric scoring an early goal direct from a well hit free kick 0-1. Then almost straight away scored again 0-2. But the boys kept their heads up and pushed to get back into the game with Nathan covering the whole pitch really well Zac also worked hard and now taking the goal kicks getting good distance on them. Jack kept testing their defenders turning them one way and another.

Tom then made a super double save first with his hands then his feet. Electric then made their best play of the match passed the ball well and scoring a third 0-3. This seemed to get the boys going again with Yan now up front for Kenny with Charlie pushing forward to try and us get back into it leaving Ryan H to be last man in defence. The after some pressure by the Swans Jack scored to make it 1-3.

But despite all the boys efforts there was no way back and the result did not fully reflect a good game. Man of the match was awarded to Nathan for his hard work all over the pitch.
